The Temora Aviation Museum is an Australian aerospace museum located in Temora, New South Wales. The Museum was established in late 1999, based on the collection of warbird aircraft owned by David Lowy. Lowy remains the President of the Museum, which is overseen by a seven-member Governing Committee.
The Museum is home to many historic military and civilian aircraft that range from the World War II era to the Vietnam War era and holds Flying Weekends (normally once approximately every six weeks) to display its operating aircraft.
The Museum often hosts visits from Royal Australian Air Force combat aircraft such as the F/A-18 Hornet and other historical aircraft as well.

The Post will profile each of the nine Breeders’ Cup races to be run next Saturday at Churchill Downs. The Countdown to the Cup spotlights potential nice-price winners as handicapped by reporter Ed Fountaine and columnist Ray Kerrison. Good luck.
ANALYSIS: Welcome to the biggest lottery in the Breeders’ Cup, a million-dollar mad scramble of 2-year-old American colts with limited experience on grass, a bunch of European carpetbaggers looking to get lucky and no fewer than six on the also-eligible list hoping to draw into the race.
The race is so wide open (a euphemism for handicapping nightmare) that the likely favorite, even if you can isolate him, will probably start at 5-1 or longer. The flip side is that if you really like a horse in here, you can make a score. At a mile on the turf, the outside posts would appear to be the kiss of death — except that last year’s winner, Pluck, broke from the extreme outside, gate 13, Go figure.
LIVE LONGSHOTS: Listed at 10-1 in the Daily Racing Form, Caspar Netscher, the European, was beaten only a length in the Grade 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket three weeks ago after a Grade 2 victory at Newbury, both at 6 furlongs. Stretches to a mile here, but he looks to be right in it. Another prospect is Wrote, from the Aidan O’Brien factory, at 15-1, after a promising third in a Grade 2 stake at Newmarket.
THE BET: The best of the American contenders may be Finale, from Todd Pletcher’s barn. A speedy colt, he is 3-for-3 on the grass. He looks right in it. Right behind him is State of Play, unbeaten in two grass races, from the Team Valor-Graham Motion combo which won this year’s Kentucky Derby. Bet them on the nose and over the two longshots — and hope for the best.

Birth of the mysterious Alchemical Sentinels / Naissance de mystrieuses Sentinelles Alchimiques DDC_9919
Birth of the mysterious Alchemical Sentinels
3 months working day and night with an exceptional “dream team"… a big thank you to ACS, Luc, my trusty Giant who could lift a juggernaut onto a balcony (QED Thierry Loir) Thomas Cart'1, Goin, and of course Marc for the paints.
I have managed to set up my installation of 99 raw steel sculptures with an incredibly demanding specification: none of the 3600 work on the DDC site were to be hidden… we had to think about power sources, water crossings, access for construction machinery including the telescopic booms (3m wide)… public safety, ERP museum standards, etc, ... constantly alternating between the visible and the invisible...
Are they inhabited? I don’t know. One thing is certain: each sentinel stands as a unique sculpture in terms of its alchemical elements and paintwork (either with anti-rust paint or voluntarily with paints that do not resist rust). This autumn, each sentinel will reveal – with the acid rain – different interpretations, depending on the paints and solvents used, making each one different, with stratifications that future archaeologists will decipher.
But my most perilous challenge was to create a giant (9000 m) installation that envelops the Abode of Chaos with dozens of tons of steel, so that my visitors, from any angle, enter a dreamlike fantasy and where the world of the Abode of Chaos on the one hand and that of the 99 monumental sculptures (named "Alchemical Sentinels" during an extremely busy night ) intersect like the Inframince defined by Marcel Duchamp (or, how to build intensities by subtraction).
These 99 Alchemical Sentinels are now the guardians of the Sanctuary that the Abode of Chaos has become. I designed them as veritable quantum energy wells that we placed with patience and wisdom at different spots all over the Abode of Chaos.
There are 99 in total, made of 10mm rough steel (50 tons), welded to form perfect equilateral triangles. Each of the three sides constituting an Alchemical Sentinel is itself cut to reveal a meurtrire, again in the shape of an equilateral triangle, presenting a superb Euclidean geometry to the visitor.
These 99 Alchemical Sentinels are each placed at specific energy points on the 9000 m of the Abode of Chaos. Some are hidden by vegetation or natural landforms or are placed in relation to existing works. Others are located in our private and professionals spaces.
In my alchemical work that began on 9 December 1999, the three gates arranged in an equilateral triangle with one vertex pointing upwards, form the luminous delta. They represent the three elements that alchemists work with. These three elements are sulphur, mercury and salt.
Note that the three elements found in the Prima Materia (or Alchemical Chaos) are very closely related. The point triangle is also the symbol of the fire philosophers.
The equilateral triangle resting on its base – like the three points – is the symbol of the fire element, one of the four elements that the alchemist works with in the laboratory.
The geometric properties of the equilateral triangle evoke absolute perfection by their spiritual strength and their age-old symbolism going back to ancient Egypt… strength, beauty and harmony.
They will remain for a thousand years as witnesses to a civilization lost through the folly of men.

ROME—Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi managed to survive a key confidence vote in the lower house of Parliament on Friday, averting for now a government collapse in the euro zone's third-largest economy at a time when Italy is under pressure to provide credible measures to counter the European debt crisis.

Demonstrators in Milan Friday protested education cuts; protesters are increasingly camping on Rome streets.
Mr. Berlusconi won with 316 votes in favor of his government and 301 votes against it. A majority of 309 was required to pass. The confidence motion was the eighth such vote in 2011 and the ninth in the past 12 months for the prime minister, who has used confidence votes to cajole his volatile center-right majority coalition into cohesion.
"This ambush has failed," Mr. Berlusconi said Friday, referring to the center-left opposition that tried to put in place filibustering tactics to win the vote and force Mr. Berlusconi to step down.
Though the vote secured Mr. Berlusconi's grip of power for now, he remains under fire from business leaders, European regulators and investors. Critics of the premier doubt the confidence votes ultimately mean lawmakers are willing to back the divisive economic overhauls needed to revive Italy's stagnant economy.
The Italian premier pledged to address the urgent problems the country is facing, including finalizing a long-awaited growth-boosting package. Analysts and political observers, however, highlighted growing divides in his conservative coalition that may put the government's survival at stake again.
"The final approval by Parliament of the [growth] decree might be another test for the government coalition in our view," Barclays analyst Fabio Fois wrote in a note.
Analysts at UniCredit said that Friday's win "avoids the political instability related to the possibility of an early election," but added that the road ahead is bumpy. The UniCredit analysts said new cracks could open within the governing coalition on a range of issues, such as who should succeed Mario Draghi, the next European Central Bank chief, at the helm of Italy's central bank.
"The ruling coalition remains divided on several issues, like the final shape of the 'growth decree' and the structural reform effort," they wrote.
On the Italian streets, meanwhile, a protest movement is taking shape similar to the "Indignados" in Spain and "Occupy Wall Street" in the U.S. Dozens of protesters have been camping across the street from the Bank of Italy's headquarters in Rome.
In Milan, a small group of protesters broke off from a larger student protest on Friday and tossed eggs and garbage at the entrance of the offices of Goldman Sachs. The building was spray-painted with anti-Berlusconi slogans. The group also tried to reach the Milan headquarters of Fininvest, the Berlusconi family's holding company, but protesters were blocked by police, a Fininvest spokesman said. Protesters said they are holding a rally in Rome on Saturday.
Mr. Berlusconi, however, has remained defiant. He had called Friday's confidence vote after dismissing widespread demands to resign and insisting he wouldn't step aside and allow a technocrat government take office.
"This government will die of confidence," center-left opposition leader Pier Luigi Bersani quipped after the vote.
Economists and business leaders say Italy would be better served by a government of technocrats who could craft measures aimed at lowering the country's €1.9 trillion ($2.63 trillion) in public debt and addressing the weakest growth rate in the euro zone.

The foundation of businessman Mo Ibrahim awarded its lucrative Africa leadership prize for the first time in three years, honoring Cape Verde's former president Pedro Pires for his stewardship of the tiny island nation and his peaceful exit from power.
The Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership gives more than $5 million in annual installments for life to leaders in Africa who are elected democratically, lead admirably and leave office constitutionally. The last award was given to Botswana's former president Festus Mogae in 2008. Since then, the foundation has chosen not to name a recipient—a clear sign of disapproval with the many African leaders who have clung to power even after losing elections.
The prize committee praised Mr. Pires on Monday for his role in shepherding Cape Verde from colonialism and one-party rule to a stable democracy. During a decade as president, Mr. Pires presided over annual economic growth of 6%.
Mr. Pires became Cape Verde's first prime minister after the rocky archipelago off West Africa, a colonial slave-trading outpost, won independence from Portugal in 1975. He stepped down in 1991 after losing the first multiparty elections held in any of Africa's five Portuguese-speaking nations.
Constitutional reforms later shifted power from the premiership to the presidency. Mr. Pires ran successfully for president in 2001 and stepped down early this year after the two-term limit dictated by the constitution.
Ireland's former President Mary Robinson, who serves on the seven-member committee, praised 77-year-old Mr. Pires for his "willingness to lose an election ... come back and become president, and bring about an economic management transformation."
In Africa, stepping away from power has been a rare career choice. In Ivory Coast late last year, Laurent Gbagbo refused to relinquish power after losing a presidential election to Alassane Ouattara, prompting a civil conflict that dragged into April, when he was ousted by force. And in Zimbabwe, an ailing President Robert Mugabe is pushing to hold elections scheduled for 2013 next year instead, to end the power-sharing arrangement with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in place since violent and disputed elections in 2008.
Last month, however, Michael Sata's victory over incumbent president Rupiah Banda in Zambia led to a peaceful presidential transitions of power. International observers are hoping the trend continues through several tests ahead. Liberia holds elections Tuesday, and Gambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will hold them in November.
Ms. Robinson warned that while many African countries are posting enviable growth rates, their democratic and civil institutions often lag far behind, with some slipping back toward autocracy.
"It's balanced development that we really seek. But it's important that we think about strengthening the institutions," that underpin civil society, Ms. Robinson said.
Because of those concerns, the committee didn't award the Ibrahim prize in 2009 and 2010, after giving it to Mr. Mogae in 2008 and former presidents Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique in 2007. Nelson Mandela also was an honorary recipient that year.
Not extending the award has been seen as a stinging comment on the state of African politics. But the foundation also has attracted criticism for such decisions from those who say it reinforces stereotypes of the continent as ungovernable
Mr. Ibrahim said Monday that rewarding a leader who didn't live up to basic democratic standards would be counterproductive. "It's not a pension," said Mr. Ibrahim, who funds the prize with the fortune he made on the Celtel mobile-telephone phone company he founded in 1998. "We have to have a worthy winner."

The view over Poole Harbour, one of the larger of the World's almost landlocked harbours. To the right is the open sea of Poole Bay with the beaches of Bournemouth on the far side and those of Studland nearer right. The sea enters Poole Harbour where the Sandbanks Ferry operates (see the note.) Poole itself is at the back of the Harbour and is a base for Channel Island and Cherbourg vehicle ferries, normal cargo ships, MOD vessels and a great many pleasure craft. In this shot is also an oil producing area. My OS map depicted about six oil wells round the Harbour's shores. All but one are discretely hidden within the trees. Within the Harbour is Brownsea Island which has a connection with the early Scouts' movement when, in 1907, Baden-Powell himself set up a camp for 22 boys from different social backgrounds (Wikipedia.)

Bloomberg News
The S&P 500 pit at the Chicago Board of Trade on Tuesday, when the index swung wildly from a loss to a gain in the final hour.
Stocks finished lower and the Dow Jones Industrial Average snapped a three-day winning streak, as financial stocks fell and Europe's sovereign-debt problems overshadowed a stronger U.S. employment reading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 20.21 points, or 0.2%, to 11103.12, following a streak of three straight triple-digit gains. Despite Friday's loss, the blue-chip measure gained 1.7% for the week and advanced for the third week in four.
We're in a bear market. Or maybe we're not. If we are, what should investors do about it? Jason Zweig explains to Simon Constable and Wendy Bounds on The News Hub.

Live Blog Recap: Jobs Report
The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index shed 9.51 points, or 0.8%, to 1155.46, but ended 2.1% higher for the week, snapping a two-week losing streak. The technology-oriented Nasdaq Composite lost 27.47 points, or 1.1%, to 2479.35, but added 2.7% for the week.
Stocks advanced early in the session after U.S. September nonfarm payrolls rose more than expected and an especially weak August reading was revised higher. But indexes dropped after Fitch Ratings issued ratings cuts for Italy and Spain, two of the largest euro-zone economies that also are sovereign-debt trouble spots.
"The jobs number was better than expected. It's better than a poke in the eye. [But] I think that Europe is the thing that matters more," said Karl Mills, president and chief investment officer at Jurika Mills & Keifer.
Although the U.S. economy added more jobs than expected last month, that the outlook remains murky. However, Mesirow financial economist Adolfo Laurenti says that the jobs uptick reduces the risk of a double-dip recession.

Investors pressed the sell button on safe-haven Treasury bonds as an upbeat jobs report diluted fears that the world's biggest economy was headed into a recession, Matt Phillips reports on Markets Hub.
The S&P 500's financial components fell 3.7%, leading decliners, and finished the week flat despite the broad measure's weekly advance. Bank of America shed 38 cents, or 6.1%, to $5.90, leading blue-chip stocks lower, followed by J.P. Morgan Chase, which lost 1.68, or 5.2%, to 30.70.
Consumer stocks rose after the jobs report, helping limit losses. Wal-Mart Stores led the Dow's gainers as it rose 95 cents, or 1.8%, to 53.70. Home Depot added 54 cents, or 1.6%, to 33.92.
"We thought that the jobs report was positive. It should be more reassuring to retail investors," said Kate Warne, investment strategist at Edward Jones.
Treasury prices fell on the jobs report, with the 10-year note dropping 23/32 point to yield 2.067%. Gold lost 1.1%, to settle at $1,634.50 a troy ounce. Oil edged up 0.5%, to close at $82.98 a barrel.
S&P 500 consumer-staples and utilities stocks finished higher. The two sectors are commonly viewed as defensive.
Sprint Nextel slumped 60 cents, or 20%, to 2.41, to lead S&P 500 decliners. The company said it will need to raise money for a network upgrade and to help cover higher costs that are expected from offering the iPhone. The network upgrade dealt a blow to Clearwire's stock, which lost 66 cents, or 32%, to 1.39. The plan unveiled Friday will use a competitor to Clearwire's technology.
Biotechnology and medical-instrument companies were among the worst performers in the S&P 500 after medical-research-equipment maker Illumina cast a pall on the sector by saying that third-quarter revenue would be well below expectations. The company also suspended its full-year outlook. Shares tumbled 12.75, or 32%, to 27.18.
PerkinElmer shed 1.62, or 8.3%, to 17.93. Life Technologies lost 2.56, or 6.5%, to 36.82, and Thermo Fisher Scientific shed 3.18, or 5.9%, to 50.49.
In corporate news, ServiceSource gained 1.22, or 9.1%, to 14.57. The company said it expects to report third-quarter adjusted earnings above prior estimates and raised its full-year revenue forecast.
Cardiovascular Systems slumped 2.72, or 26%, to 7.58. The company indicated that fiscal first-quarter revenue growth would be smaller than anticipated.
Smith & Wesson gained 14 cents, or 5.3%, to 2.78. The gunmaker said it intends to divest its perimeter security business in order to focus on its core firearms operations.
In Friday economic data, wholesale-inventory figures undershot economists' expectations, highlighting companies' unwillingness to bulk up in a weak economy. Consumer credit data showed that U.S. consumers were cautious about finances in August, decreasing outstanding credit by $9.5 billion, to $2.44 trillion, the biggest drop since April 2010.

Our mind's judgement will always prevail over empirical truth. There is no right or wrong. Everything exists.

Mount Shasta Trip - 1
We had hoped for dry weather for the drive down to the San Francisco Bay area from Oregon, and we did get it, the only problem being that it was almost TOO good, with temperatures breaking through 110 degrees fahrenheit on several occasions during the day and topping out at 114F as we stood alongside Shasta Lake a few hours after this shot was taken.
The high heat meant for some heavy haze, making what could have been a stunning landscape shot fade away a little into the distance, but for our first clear semi-unobstructed view of Mount Shasta, it fit the bill nicely, and to be honest makes the volcanic mountain look almost unreal in the distance.
