Entre 1856 et 1893, la premire lanterne du phare mettait une lumire fixe et rouge. Import d'Angleterre, le systme se composait de 8 lampes dont le feu tait aliment par de l'huile de phoque. En hiver il fallait la chauffer pour l'empcher de se figer.

From 1856 to 1893, the lighthouse emitted a fixed red light. The system had been imported from England. The fire from the lamps was fulled by seal oil. The watchmen had to light the 8 lamps every night and extinguish them every morning. In winter, the seal oil had to be heated to stop it from congealing
